My doula Kimberly Duran was THE person who helped me get as far as I could. She was behind the camera so you woudn’t know, but she was always there with some kind of jiggle, massage, breathing suggestion or encouraging word for almost 30 HOURS. We chose Kim because she was calming, practical & seemed to flex her energy & communication styles to fit the people she worked with. She genuinely sought to identify & support my husband & I with our individual needs; she let us lead. Kim was always available and let us choose how best to communicate. When I went into labor she came to the house & worked with us- I felt safe & supported. At the hospital she was like an angel floating around, coordinating with my husband & the hospital staff, allowing me to stay positive & focused.
